About Laser Celebration 2010

2010 was the 50th anniversary of the invention of the laser, and was celebrated throughout the world in various ways (see www.laserfest.org for a comprehensive listing of events). Unique among these celebrations, our symposium was focused not just on laser developments but on Dr. Maiman's role in them (see www.laserinventor.com). Since he spent his last decade living in Vancouver and working with Simon Fraser University's School of Engineering Science, it was fitting that the symposium was located in the heart of Vancouver, at SFU's Morris Wosk Centre for Dialogue.

The organizing committee was headed by Andrew Rawicz, Professor of Engineering at SFU, and included: Kathleen Maiman, Bruno Jaggi, Marinko Sarunic, Alan Guest, and Ulrich Stange.
