The Simon Fraser University Environmental Physiology Unit
Researching human performance in extreme environments, Simon Fraser University's combination hyperbaric/hypobaric chamber is the only one of its kind in Canada - both a 305 meter (1,000 feet) depth rating and a 33.5 km altitude (100,000 feet) flight rating for diving research, pilot high altitude training and aerospace testing. The 7 person main chamber has a separate entry lock for passage during dives or flights and an attached wet pot for underwater simulations.
The walk-in 4 x 5 meter climate chamber has a range of -26 C. to +50 C. at 10% to 95% humidity. Treadmills, bicycle ergometers, and thermal, O2 and heart rate monitoring equipment support physiological and protype testing.
Contact us for information on scheduling your R&D projects. Recent client use has included monitoring human operational parameters, acclimatization training, and testing of survival suits, life-support systems, electronics, and fuel cells.
