Joint Major/Honors in Mathematics and Computing Science (MACM)

Students in this honors program will gain a solid understanding of the mathematical foundations of computing science and can use their knowledge to find solutions to some of the toughest problems facing computer scientists today.

For example, students can use their skills to:

  • optimize algorithms to improve the efficiency and reliability of software
  • create encryption codes to ensure the security of personal or financial data for businesses or governments
  • help governments or businesses improve the way they manage and control the flow of information, people, goods, or other resources
  • check the solvability of problems and verify the accuracy of software solutions.

In addition, our students can take advantage of our co-operative education program which allows students to gain valuable, career-related, paid work experience. Over 85% of our co-op students find work with one of their previous co-op employers after graduation.
