Duncan Knowler, School of Resource and Environmental Management

March 19, 2002

The prerequisite statement for REM 445-3 Environmental Risk Assessment and Management of Hazardous Substances should be modified as follows.

Current Proposed
Prerequisites: BISC 312, CHEM 102, 115, REM 100, EVSC 200, MATH 151 or 154 or 157, STAT 101 or 103 or 301.
Prerequisites: CHEM 102, 115, REM 100, EVSC 200, MATH 151 or 154 or 157, STAT 101 or 103 or 301.

Rationale

REM 445 is focused on integrating components of biology, chemistry and the management sciences to make students familiar with environmental risk assessment as it applies to pollution issues. This includes the objective of BISC 312 of "bridging the gap" between traditional knowledge biology courses and formal toxicology issues. The course content of BISC 312 is therefore not a requirement for the successful completion of the course and should not be used as a prerequisite.
