or both of
CMPT 120-3 Introduction to Computing Science and Programming I
CMPT-125-3 Introduction to Computing Science and Programming II

CMPT 275-4 Software Engineering

Rationale: The proposed change is to replace CMPT 150 by CMPT 212 in the list of lower division MSSC requirements. CMPT 150 appears to be too much hardware/engineering oriented for the MSSC program. (It is identical to ENSC 150.) On the other hand the MSSC students feel the need to take an object-oriented programming course.

Upper Division Requirements

FROM:

Students should note the prerequisites for these courses. However, BUS 237 and 336 are waived for MSSC majors and honors.

Note: BUEC 232, BUEC 333 and ECON 331 will not be accepted towards the 120 or 132 hours required for the MSSC major or honors degree.

MSSC 480 and MSSC 481 can not be taken concurrently.

Note: BUEC 232, BUEC 333 and ECON 331 will not be accepted towards the 120 or 132 hours required for the MSSC major or honors degree.

Rationale: MSSC 480 and MSSC 481 have always been offered as a joint seminar, and this is also the expectation for the future. Since the students need credit for both courses, they have to be cautioned that they can not earn credit for both courses in a single semester.
