Indeed this was  debated quite at length. On one hand, co-op was considered
a critical element of the program, and on the other hand issue was
difficulty for students with lower GPA. In fact this was one of the key factors
for 2.4 (and not lower) GPA requirement.

This would be one of the main things that would be monitored during coming 
years, and adjustments made if necessary (including the ones suggested by Ash
or even an opt out clause).
